7 lifestyle habits that will make you happier in the long run

Rose Quartz “Self Love”

1. Get out of debt. Everyone around you is drowning in debt. Be different, get out of it. It’s like the over-crowded swimming pool that you do NOT want to get in. I’m getting so close to paying off my student loan debt– started out with $75,000 last May and I’ve got $25,000 to go…I feel like I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and you can bet your @$$ I won’t owe anyone money every again. Credit card debt is huge too. I have one credit card that I pay off completely every month just to build my credit. If you don’t have the money for it, don’t buy it. Simple. Message me if you want to know more about how to get out of debt!
2. Don’t be afraid to say “no” to plans. Seriously, practice using your “no” muscle. FOMO (fear of missing out) is a real thing and I do not struggle with this at all, haha. I have absolutely no problem turning down plans. I know when I’m due for some time to myself, and I do this weekly. Yes, I turn down plans WEEKLY. My plans are balanced with non-plans. I know way too many people that are constantly being involved in all the activities and they look and seem drained. I’m all about keeping the cortisol levels nice and low. One thing I do is try not to make future commitments. For example, if it’s Monday and someone asks to hang out on Friday, I say “maybe, I’ll see how I feel and we’ll confirm Thursday!” This allows me to say no if I feel like it’s been a hectic week and I just need to relax.
3. Meditate daily. I typically meditate everyday for 10-15 minutes. Meditation is the LAST “task” of my morning routine- I usually meditate after I’ve set up my treatment room and have 10-15 minutes before my first client arrives. I recommend meditating sometime during the morning before time slips away. It really is an awesome way to start out the day feeling energized, centered, reminded and calm. I love the Headspace app.
4. Drink lots water. No less than 3 liters per day. The more hydrated you are, the better every single organ in your body will function- your brain, your heart, your stomach….everything. Dehydration can lead to so many medical conditions that can easily be avoided by doing your part.
5. Sweat. You HAVE TIME. Whether it’s 5 minutes or an hour, there’s time. It doesn’t take much to get your heart rate up. If you’re someone who doesn’t have a lot of time, download a Tabata Timer app which is a 4 minute workout. You can do squats, sit ups and push ups ANYWHERE. Run around the block 2-3 times? Figure it out because your health right now plays a huge role in the future “YOU”.
6. Choose your circle wisely. Who do you choose to spend time around? Dodge the Negative Nancy’s and Debbie Downer’s, they’re not worth your time. Surround yourself with people who make you better, encourage you, understand you, hold you accountable and believe in you. This doesn’t mean leave out the people that challenge you. Challenging can be life-changing, just make sure it’s not a toxic-type challenge! My friends and I are usually working out, expressing ideas, cracking jokes and watching The Bachelor on Mondays.
7. Give someone a compliment every day. It’s hard to compliment someone without having a smile on your face so this ensures that you experienced positive emotions at some point during the day! This is so good for your health and you can turn anyone’s day upside down by paying them a simple compliment.
Let me know if you decide to incorporate any of these into your lifestyle and how it goes! Do you have any self care tips to increase the quality of lifestyle? Please share, I wanna know!

is making healthy food choices really all that matters?

So I’m pretty well known in my circle of friends for living an extremely healthy lifestyle. Like, I work out 5x/week, I drink 1 gallon of water per day, I sleep 8 hours every night, I have come up with all the healthy meal alternatives, I plan my cheats and I even track all my macros. Which means, yes, I count how many grams of carbs, protein and fat I consume every day…

Well what seems like forever now, no matter how healthily I seem to live, I rarely feel good. I usually feel pretty good as soon as I wake up and have some tea and head to the gym….I’ll get home, take a shower, make my breakfast smoothie and get ready for work. Halfway thru getting ready I start to feel tired, like I’m already crashing (e v e r y morning.) and once I get in my car and head to work, it’s full on sluggish. For so long, I thought it was fumes from my car making me sick, or even the smog (I live in LA). THEN I’d slowly start to feel a little normal. My go to lunch is typically some protein, usually eggs and rice (I LOVE RICE). And then next thing you know, I feel like putting my head down on the table and crashing. I feel exhausted and kind of on edge, like not in a good mood….

Another thing to note: I randomly get red dots/rashes that start around my eyes and spread to my cheeks, like once or twice a month. Never knew what this was from. It only would happen when I worked out (I guess with my heart rate and body temperature rising, I was being reactive).

FINALLY decided to take a food sensitivity test and YOU GUYS! life changing! Come to find out I have a major intolerance to ALMONDS and EGGS! I would put 2-3 tablespoons of almond butter in my smoothie (because this is healthy, right?!?) every morning, which is why I felt awful by the time I got to work. And I would eat eggs every morning and a majority of the time at lunch, which is when I would die down again. My snacks always consisted of almond crackers and instead of using cow’s milk, I always buy almond milk. I literally consume almonds more than ANYTHING. I also have an intolerance to sweet potatoes and cinnamon which are 2 things I consume 3-4 days out of the week, once again, because these ARE healthy options.

It’s been 3 days since I received my test results from EverlyWell. I have cut out all sensitivies and I feel a thousand times better. Seriously the best $200 I’ve ever spent. If any of you ever feel tired and sluggish, or maybe you constantly break out on your forehead and can’t figure out why, I HIGHLY suggest you take a Food Sensitivity Test. You can click on this link to get the same one I got and you’ll get 10% off. It arrived within a couple days, once I took the test, they received it within a couple days and I got my results within 3 or 4 days. Simplest process ever.

Do any of you ever feel like you make all the right choices and still feel off? I’m so happy to be able to share this with anyone who may suffer from the same symptoms I did. If you feel great all the time, well good for youuuu, haha. But if you hear anyone with similar issues, encourage them to take a food sensitivity test. Seriously life changing!

the truth about juice cleanses

Juice cleanses are all the rage right now and have been for the past couple years. You guys, juice cleanses actually aren’t good for you! Most people looking into juice cleanses are typically trying to lose weight so I’m going to address that crew in this post, just remember juice cleanses aren’t ideal for anyone.

So what happens when you do a juice cleanse? Well, juices are typically filled with glucose and fructose in which your liver can only store 1/4 cup before storing as fat, so half way thru your second juice you’re doing yourself a disservice. The 5 pounds you may have lost during your juice cleanse was most likely due to inflammation and water, where you also most likely lost muscle mass. Muscle is crucial in fat loss because muscle burns fat. Muscle is your body’s fat-burning weapon! Now your metabolism has come to a halt, your tummy looks/feel flatter for the bikini you’re wearing this weekend. After the weekend is over, you gained the 5 pounds back plus some. Do not go this route!

If you’re trying to lose weight, you will be more likely to reach your goals when your blood sugar is balanced. The best way to maintain balanced blood sugar levels is by eating good carbs, healthy fats, protein, fiber and all the leafy greens. Simple sugars and processed foods should only be consumed in moderation because let’s be real!

the best anti-aging supplements everyone should be taking

Fish Oil
Fish oil is the best supplement for your heart and overall health, but it also provides intense hydration to your skin and reduces inflammation. Skin diseases such as acne and psoriasis are both triggered by inflammation, in which taking a daily anti-inflammatory supplement will literally change your life. If I had to choose one supplement to take for the rest of my life this would be it. If you’re vegan, try flax seed oil, chia seed oil or even walnut oil. These are my favorite fish oil capsules. They also come in liquid form (they’re naturally flavored and taste just fine, pinky prom.), which is how I prefer it, but if you’re a beginner, stick with the capsules!
♡ Zinc
Zinc is arguably as strong as antibiotics when it comes to killing bacteria. It’s also a great healing and anti-inflammatory supplement. If you suffer from acne, I highly recommend incorporating zinc into your diet. Try these supplements by Dr. Murad.
♡ Vitamins ACE ♡
Vitamin A helps balance sebum production (great for oily skin types), while vitamin C is an antioxidant that protects us from free radicals and sun damage. Vitamin E is another anti-inflammatory that pairs well with Vitamin C for they both are a good source of UVA protection. I recommend eating a high-veggie diet that includes leafy greens like spinach and kale, along with others rich in beta-carotene like carrots and sweet potatoes. Vegetables are packed with micronutrients that are essential to healthy, supple skin.
