microblading plus the healing process

Microblading is all the rage right now and one of the misconceptions about the treatment is the healing process, which is intense, you guys! Although this is my second time getting them done (first time was 1.5 years ago), I decided to take some pics and share my experience with you in case you’re considering getting yours done too.

First off, in case you don’t know what microblading is, in a nutshell, a brow artist uses dye and a blade to essentially create hair strokes to make your brows appear fuller and flawless. Like, they make them look really good! It’s similar to tattooing, except the needle doesn’t go near as deep, it’s more superficial and does not last forever. Expect to get touch ups once per year.

I found my artist (Erica @BeverlyHillsMicroblading) by scoping out other brows I saw and would ask where they went. I feel like this is the best way, because you know exactly what their work looks like in person. Instagram is basically a portfolio for artists so you can find TONS on there, just search #microblading.

Alright guys, I’m not gonna lie, it hurts like a b****! Both times I got them done, during the process I thought to myself, “what am I doing…..this better be worth it”. Yes they do numb you beforehand and I can’t imagine what it would be like without numbing cream. YIKES. Everyone asks if it hurts, so there’s that. Oh and your appointment will last about 2 hours….(numbing, shaping, microblading)

Day 1.

Brows feel sore and inflamed and are definitely bolder. They are sensitive, don’t touch…it’s like having wounds on your face. When I got home I took some ibuprofen and relaxed for the rest of the day….drank lots of mint tea and water and read all your blog posts. 🙂

(Tip: work out and shower before your appointment. I chose to wear no makeup so I didn’t have to wash my face afterwards.)
